With this Personality Profile I would like to introduce one of our current Distinguished Lecturers, Dr. D. V. Giri, to you. My first personal contact with him was a phone call in 2000. At that time I was a junior scientist and Dr. Giri helped us to get a replacement balun from Prodyn Technologies. Later that year he visited our institute and we met in person. Since then, we have worked together on some projects, wrote and edited two books, organized several conferences and workshops, and met at various events.

With this personality profile, I'd like to introduce an active member, who is taking care of the future of our Society. The person I am talking about is Caroline Chan, the current Young Professionals (formerly GOLD) representative to the EMC Society Board of Directors. The first time I became aware of her service to the EMC Society was in 2011, as she was giving an activity report to the Board. As a regional membership coordinator and later as a member of the Board I met her regularly and learned how important her service is for the future of our Society.

With this personality profile, I would like to introduce you to a very active colleague from India. I dedicate this EMC profile to Dr. Devendra Chandra Pande, the current Chairperson of the IEEE Bangalore EMC Society Chapter. Last December, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Pande at the 12th International Conference on Electromagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC) in Bangalore, India. I was a member of EMC Society representatives that provided workshop and conference talks to the technical program of the INCEMIC. Dr. Pande gave us a very warm welcome and took care that we had an outstanding week in Bangalore. Finally, I am sure that this will not be my last meeting with Dr. Pande and not my last visit to his country.

During my personal preparation for the 2016 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Ottawa, our immediate past president of the EMC Society made me aware that we would have a participant who has continually attended all of our EMC symposia for more than 40 years. Immediately, I decided that someone who showed such a strong commitment to the EMC discipline and his unflagging support of the IEEE EMC Society must be the subject of this Personality Profile. The person I would like to introduce to you in this profile is Noel Sargent.

This year the EMC Society decided to hold the IEEE International Symposium on EMC, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SIPI) in conjunction with the 9th Asia-Pacific EMC (APEMC) Symposium in May 2018 in Singapore. In my opinion this is an excellent sign to demonstrate the international nature of our professional society. Therefore, I dedicate this Personality Profile column to introduce a colleague from Asia. The person I would like to introduce you to is Professor Wen-Yan Yin from Zhejiang University (ZJU), located in Hangzhou, China.

With this Personality Profile, I would like to introduce you to the general chair of the IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC), Professor Rodolfo Araneo. During my time as President of the EMC Society, Rodolfo helped me to increase the visibility of the discipline of electromagnetic compatibility as well as the EMC Society to engineers who were working in power systems and electrical engineering. As general chair of the EEEIC, he invited the EMC Society to organize a dedicated session and deliver a welcome note at the plenary session. Without his active support, we would not have been able to obtain this kind of visibility.

One goal of the EMC Personality Profile column is to introduce young professionals who are active in our EMC Society and have already contributed a significant piece of knowledge. Following this goal I dedicate this profile to introduce you to Alexander Vogt. You might not know his name or might not have even heard anything about him, but I am sure this will change soon. Every year at its annual meeting the IEEE Germany Section EMC Society Chapter awards the best Ph.D. thesis on an EMC related topic. In 2016 Alexander Vogt received this award for his thesis titled "Analysis of Electromagnetic Interference in Server Casings". The jury indicated that the Ph.D. thesis was a master piece combining both theoretical analyses with practical application.
