Abstract

This paper reviews the use of pXRF in elemental assessment of vegetation, with emphasis on the factors that affect pXRF readings, including water content, protective film effect, critical penetration depth of X-rays, sample thickness, measurement time, and particle size. An overview and guideline for pXRF analysis of vegetal matrixes were provided, aiming to minimize the errors and to improve the predictive accuracy of pXRF data.
