Abstract
A comparative study was made on the lower valent K modified lead zirconate (PZ) and isovalent Ba modified PZ in terms of dielectric response, polarization hysteresis and electron microscopy. It was revealed for the first time that ionic size difference is not the only dominant factor in determining antiferroelectric-ferroelectric stability. Lower valency consideration could also enhance ferroelectricity in antiferroelectric PZ.
