Abstract

The emissive properties of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) films obtained by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method on various substrates were studied. Films were deposited on Mo foil, Si and quartz plates. The structural and morphological properties of MWCNTs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray powder diffraction methods. Field emission (FE) from MWCNT films was measured in diode system and analyzed by Fowler–Nordheim model. We have found that the type of substrate influenced the structure and morphology of synthesized carbon films and thus influenced FE properties.
