Abstract

Recoil ions produced by fast-ion bombardment of dilute gases are in use at Kansas State University as a source of low-energy highly-charged ions to study electron capture by these projections on neutral targets in the 106-107 cm s-1 velocity range. A progress report on several phases of this program is summarized.
