Abstract

It was proved, by means of the ionic conductivity results corroborated with optical and EPR data, that in Pb2+ -and Mn2+-doped KCI crystals the electrolytical coloration changes the valence of all Pb2+ and Mn2+ ions. The results obtained are in agreement with the assumption that the coloration transforms the Pb2+ ions in substitutional Pb− centres. The possibility of changing the valence by electrolysis is connected with the electronegativity of the impurities.
