Abstract

We present laboratory measurements of the phenomenological coefficients which are required during the analysis of rock properties of fluid saturated porous media. These phenomenological coefficients, the dynamic permeability and the coupling-coefficient are required during the analyses of seismo-electric and electro-seismic measurements. A description is given of the experimental set-up and data-analyses to measure electrokinetic effects at a frequency range of 5 Hz to 200 Hz. Use is made of a collection of capillary tubes which are glued together, in combination with porous electrode plates which are connected to the top and bottom. Typical offset factors, which occur during measurement are analysed, and a theoretical description for correcting for these factors is given. Good agreement with the theoretical predictions are obtained for both phenomenological coefficients.
