Abstract
We modified carbon nanofiber (CNF) with chemical oxidation method and functionalized with β-cyclodextrin (βCD) as for the electrochemical detection of ascorbic acid. Chemical oxidation introduced new hydrophilic oxygen functional groups into CNF, resulting that wettability, dispersion and reactivity are enhanced. Furthermore, it has increased the functionalization of βCD over oxidized CNF surface. As a result, synthesized electrode showed high sensitivity (0.1 µA/µM) and excellent selectivity with low detection limit (0.9 µM) in the detection of ascorbic acid. The simple chemical oxidation of CNF followed by the functionalization with βCD resulted excellent electrochemical performance in the detection of ascorbic acid.
