Abstract

Electrical conductivity, thermoelectric power and dielectric constant of polycrystalline chromium molybdate, Cr 2(MoO 4) 3, have been studied in the temperature range 300–1000 K. Cr 2(MoO 4) 3 is characterised by two different conduction mechanisms with a discontinuity at T ≈ 650 K. This discontinuity at 650 K is coincident with the monoclinic ⇌ orthorhombic transition at 658 K. The compound exhibits p-type semiconducting behaviour below 500 K and above 500 K it becomes n-type.
