Abstract
The aim of this work is to outline some remarks on the functioning of the nobility patronage on the regular clergy and especially the repercussions on the construction process and the devotional context of the monastic communities. We take as a case study the disappeared Discalced Carmelite Fathers of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios in the Cordovan village of Benamejí. After analyzing its complex process of foundation and construction, we make an approach to the displacement of their devotions, from those chosen by the founders to those of the Carmelite order as a means of compensating for the progressive loss of noble support.
