Abstract

Ginger is a very commonly used spice in asian cooking and traditional herbal medicine.Its spicy flavour and warm nature of fresh ginger or hot of dry ginger and its afinity for spleen, stomach and lung channels (the dry one also for the Heart channel) which tonifies the Yang aspect of these organs and eliminates Cold, makes of it a very good digestive tonic, excellent antiemetic; expectorant, against flu and cough remedy, also good for stimulating the circulation and as a detoxifiying thus an important ingredient of commonly used traditional chinese formulas.Due to this same nature it should be avoided in cases of either Deficiency or Exces Heat. It is neither recommended in patients with antiagregant treatment.Scientific studies have demonstrated its efficiency, specially as antiemetic overcoming in some cases conventional medication.
