Abstract
Durante la decada de los anos 1520 se quiso alumbrar un hospital de cuno moderno en la ciudad de Granada a partir de los dos Hospitales Reales preexistentes, de la Alhambra y de los Reyes. En tanto que obra publica —y en proceso de edificacion—, el hospital refundido podria permitirse desarrollar los originarios mandatos fundacionales y extender su cobertura hasta transformarse en un hospital de ambito general. Resultarian asi fortalecidas tanto su condicion de obra pia y memoria asistencial de los Reyes Catolicos como la grandeza y suntuosidad monumentales asociadas.
