Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to account for the transformations in the occupational structure in Mexico in the last fifteen years. The analysis focuses on the productive reconfiguration as a result of monopoly capitalism, which is expressed in the expansion of Transnational Corporations in the country. Some elements are presented to understand the new division of labor, in society and within the productive units. The issue of the impacts that the Transactional Companies generate on the world of work in Mexico is developed, based on two thematic lines: i) The growing concentration of capital and the consequent dominance of production, ii) The control of technological developments about the productive process. Subsequently, the main results of a quantitative analysis of the Mexican working class are presented, which implies an exercise of reflection on the concept of the working class.
