Abstract
Health is a social construction elaborated from different interacting dimensions: biological, environmental and social in interaction, with the lifestyles of people, understood in a broader sense as a result of decisions taken both individually and collectively. Objective: The purpose of this research was to know the representations of the health care disease process in general and of the oral component in particular held by young people in confinement housed in socio-educational centers of the Juvenile Penal Area of the Province of Cordoba, Argentina. Methodology: A qualitative study was carried out following the methodology of the grounded theory. Results and conclusion: The representations of the health care disease process of these young people in confinement include the oral component as part of general health, from situations of suffering, mainly by physical pain and self-care, but also by the aesthetic importance.
