Abstract

A review of articles published in the Journal of the Community Development Society was conducted. The 355 articles included in the analysis were published over the past 18 years of the journal and of the Community Development Society's existence. Articles were classified by institutional affiliation of author, subject classification of article, and geographical location of author. The study indicates that the journal has a broad range of authors and subject matter but that most authors are associated with institutions in the upper midwestern states. Only a small percentage of international authors have contributed to the journal. Community development practice and rural development have been major subject areas of interest. Implications for the future and the role of the practitioner in community development research are presented.
