Abstract

This paper deals with the calculation of the lower eigenvalues of a uniform hard-walled acoustic waveguide with a cross-section defined by eccentrically placed circular boundaries. The calculation involves the transformation of the waveguide cross-section on to a concentric annulus and an approximate solution of the resulting transformed wave equation by Galerkin's method. Consideration is also given to the effect of the ratio of inner to outer boundary radius, i.e. “hub-tip” ratio, on the above calculations.
