Abstract
An efficient and convenient method for the synthesis of 6-hydroxy-6-aryloxymethyl-1,5-diaryl-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4-dithiones via condensation of 2 equiv. of 1-arylthioureas with aryloxyacetic acids using ferric chloride hexahydrate as catalyst is described. Triazine derivatives have important medicinal properties, are widely used in the textile, plastic and rubber industries, and have applications as pesticides, dyestuffs, optical bleaches, explosives and surface active agents.
