Abstract

A total of 400 patients with 5 types of allergic conjunctivitis were divided into control and treatment groups (n=200 each). The control group took conventional medication while the treatment group received sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT). After 2-year treatment, for perennial allergic, seasonal allergic or atopic angle conjunctivitis, the decreases of medication score in the treatment group were all significantly more than those in the control group (all P<0.01). No serious adverse event was reported. SLIT with Dermatophagodies farianae drops is both safe and effective in patients with perennial allergic, seasonal allergic and atopic angle conjunctivitis. However its efficacies for vernal and giant papillary conjunctivitis require further studies. Key words: Conjunctivitis, allergic; Immunotherapy
