Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of extracorporeal scleral buckling combined with non-drainage surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Methods 70 patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment who were admitted to our hospital from October 2012 to December 2015 were selected as the target objects, and randomly divided into control group and experimental group. 35 cases in the control group were treated with scleral buckling combined with liquid drainage, while 35 cases in the experimental group were treated with scleral buckling combined with non-drainage surgery. The clinical efficacy, visual acuity, retinal reattachment, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate was 91.43% in the control group and 94.29% in the experimental group (P>0.05). The improvement rate of visual acuity in the experimental group was 85.71%, significantly higher than that in the control group (62.86%) (P 0.05). Conclusion Scleral buckling combined with non-drainage surgery has significant effect on rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, which can improve the visual acuity and reduce the incidence of complications. Key words: Scleral buckling; Non-drainage; Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment; Efficacy; Safety
