Abstract

Club members’ cohesion has become an important indicator to enhance the operating performance of student basketball clubs in colleges and universities. With questionnaire survey, student basketball club members of colleges and universities in south China region are selected as the research objects. The self-compiled questionnaire is revised after the pretest to become the formal questionnaire. Total 500 copies are distributed, and 386 copies are valid. The data are analyzed with structural equation modeling (SEM), and the research results are summarized as followings. 1. Club participation motivation presents significantly positive effects on organizational commitment. 2. Club participation motivation shows remarkably positive effects on club cohesion. 3. Organizational commitment reveals notably positive effects on club cohesion. 4. Club participation motivation would indirectly affect club cohesion through the mediation effect of organizational commitment, and the effect is higher than the direct effect of club participation motivation on club cohesion. Finally, specific suggestions, according to the research results, are proposed for the management and research of education sectors or student basketball clubs in colleges and universities.
