Abstract

Only 69% of thin‐film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT‐LCD) waste glass is reused in Taiwan. More reuse methods must be developed to increase this percentage. TFT‐LCD waste glass mostly contains SiO2 and Al2O3, which are raw materials used in the production of geopolymer. This study examines the effect of the SiO2/Na2O ratio (0.8–2.0) and the replacement of 0–40% TFT‐LCD waste glass on the properties of waste glass‐metakaolin‐based geopolymer. The samples underwent a series of tests to determine their quality, including their setting time, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity. The results showed that the compressive strength increased with curing time, and that the products of geopolymerization filled the pores, causing the thermal conductivity to increase with curing time. © 2013 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Environ Prog, 33: 205–212, 2014
