Abstract
Discharge coefficients of 90°-bend flometers are affected by factors such as the radius ratio of bend, Reynolds number, secondary flow and bend angle. Effects of segmental obstacles settled in upstream zone of the bend, however, remain to be clarified. This study investigates their effects experimentally, and it may be concluded that when the dimensionless height of the obstacle z/d is in the range of 0.4-0.5, values of discharge coefficients are almost constant, where z is the maximum height of the obstacle, d the inner diameter of the upstream pipe, and the most suitable measuring section is found at a bendangle of θi= 22.5∼33.75°.
