Abstract

The effects of passive confinement on the fatigue properties of concrete were investigated by conducting compression tests on spirally reinforced cylindrical specimens. Results shows that lateral confinement increases the fatigue properties, and the classical Aas–Jakobsen S-N equation is modified to include the effects of passive confinement.
