Effects of Pakistani Modern Drama on Youth: A Survey of Lahore District

Abstract

Television is one of the strongest and most influential mediums available to the youth of any society. The young people often idealize their favorite television shows and they want to dress and behave in the same way as their favorite stars portray themselves on television screens. In this study, the researcher was interested to know how Pakistani Modern Dramas were affecting the youth of Pakistan. The data was collected through questionnaire. The sample population for this research was limited to 150 participants. Social Learning Theory was applied and three research questions were developed. The reason for having just three questions was to make it easy for the target population to answer and to give positive or negative responses to the queries. Findings of this research show that Pakistani youths especially the females were more adaptive of the life style and cultural presented in modern television dramas. The findings further showed that television dramas were affecting the social as well as cultural fabric of our society. The study concluded that Youth is got affected by Pakistan Modern Dramas. Youth were adopting cultural and life style in their lives in the same they watch their favorite drama heroes or television starts had adopted in their favorite television dramas. The study may open new avenues for future researchers to conduct on different aspects of television dramas.
