Abstract

Geological disposal of radioactive wastes has been extensively discussed in many counties. In the geological disposal, the corrosion behavior of candidate metals for overpack must be thoroughly investigated. We have examined the corrosion behavior of copper, which is one of the candidate metals as overpack, in simulated geological disposal environments, especially, bentonite slurries. In the present work, effects of dissolved oxygen concentration in bentonite slurries on the growth of corrosion products is focused.
