Abstract
We have previously found that <i>in vitro </i>addition of autoclaved measles virus (AMV) suppressed lymphocyte proliferation. The characteristics of this response were further explored. Proliferation induced by both PHA and PWM was depressed as was 14C-amino acid incorporation. AMV present in the medium for only the first 2–4 h of culture lead to prominent suppression. Suppressive activity was found in both dialyzable and non-dialyzable fractions of AMV. No evidence of cytotoxicity was seen by three different measurements.
