Abstract

Three experiments were conducted utilizing a total of 640 pullets and 592 year old hens. Birds on limited watering time (LWT) had water for 5 equally spaced periods of 25 minutes each per day. Results with pullets showed that LWT had no significant effect on egg production, feed conversion or mortality, while with hens LWT significantly improved feed conversion. Total second year eggs were significantly increased when LWT was started immediately following the forced molt. Egg weight, percent albumen solids or percent yolk solids were not affected by LWT in pullets or hens.
