Abstract
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) flowering and seed production in the greenhouse under high pressure sodium, metal halide, mercury vapor, incandescent, and no supplemental lighting were compared. Plant responses were directly related to the quantity of light supplied. The most effective light source was the high pressure sodium lamp.
