Abstract

Magnetostrictive changes arising from magnetic transitions are investigated in Tb-Dy-Fe/Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B multilayer systems. The spin-flop behavior of the magnetization is clearly observed in the samples with in-plane anisotropy. The magnetostriction measured in the longitudinal (transverse) direction shows an up and down (down and up) change associated with the spin-flop. It is found that the spin-flop field decreases and susceptibility increases with increasing the Dy content.
