Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of cluster nursing on negative emotions and quality of life in type 1 diabetes. Methods The study investigated 73 patients with type 1 diabetes and the participants were divided into two groups. The patients of control group received normal nursing care and the patients of intervention group received cluster nursing based on the normal care. The level of anxiety and depression as well as the quality of life were compared at three months after discharged from hospital between two groups. Results Before the intervention, the total score and each dimensions′ of negative emotions and quality of life had no statistical differences (P>0.05). After the intervention, however, the scores of negative emotions in the intervention group were significantly lower than that in the control group, and the total score and each dimensions′ of the quality of life except physiological function dimension of the intervention group were higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions The cluster nursing has the capacity to improve patients′ quality of life and to reduce the negative emotion, so it can be developed in clinical practice.
