Abstract

A study is reported of the effects of apron spacing and break draft in a ring frame on the tensile and regularity properties of a double-rove cotton yam, using a factorial analysis technique, produced on a short staple spinning system. The results show that the effect of apron spacing is less marked than that of break draft on the majority of the tensile and regularity properties studied. Overall, closer apron spacing and lower break draft in the ring frame improve all but one of the properties studied.
