Abstract

A system of performance management was implemented with four clinical directors to increase their supervision of educational staff at a specialized school setting. The system included graphic (visual) feedback, documentation of supervision contacts, performance appraisal, and positive social reinforcement. Performance management was associated with increased supervision by three of the four clinical directors. Adding personalized feedback improved supervision frequency by the fourth clinical director. The advantages and application of comprehensive performance management within behavioral healthcare organizations is discussed.
