Effects of a dialogue method applied in an interdisciplinary group in the environmental field,
Resumo Esta pesquisa buscou contribuir para o aprofundamento de conhecimentos sobre efeitos advindos de metodologias que estimulam a aprendizagem do diálogo. Para isso, foram analisados efeitos de um método de diálogo aplicado em um projeto temático de pesquisa, realizado no Brasil e financiado pela FAPESP, que agregou diversos pesquisadores de diferentes áreas do saber para trabalharem juntos em prol de uma nova governança ambiental. A partir de abordagem qualitativa e de princípios da pesquisa do tipo intervenção, o teste do método de diálogo ocorreu ao longo de um curso e os dados foram coletados por meio de questionários, de observação participante, de documentos escritos pelos pesquisadores, de gravações transcritas do curso e de diários de bordo produzidos pelos participantes. As análises foram realizadas com o propósito de identificar três tipos de efeitos: mudanças cognitivas, mudanças relacionais e ações colaborativas. Com o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, foi possível verificar que o método de diálogo estimulou mudanças cognitivas e relacionais nos pesquisadores. Por outro lado, não foram encontrados indícios da emergência de ações colaborativas entre eles. Tais resultados trazem implicações interessantes para a continuidade do desenvolvimento de estudos sobre o processo de aprendizagem do diálogo e seus efeitos, especialmente em relação ao método investigado nesta pesquisa.

S08: Setting the European Environment and Health Research Agenda, 2020-2030: the HERA project, Room 217, Floor 2, August 26, 2019, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM The HERA-project will develop a European Environment and Health Research Agenda in close collaboration with different stakeholder communities to achieve wide societal participation in deciding on research priorities. It will develop strategies and tools to ensure the engagement of stakeholders, increasing coordination and cross-fertilisation of ideas, and contributing to the European environment and health process and policy activities. Stakeholders at EU, national and regional level will be identified to ensure a large and inclusive consultation process. Important stakeholder groups are relevant research-communities in the field of environment, health and climate change, policy makers (EU, national), civil society organisations, industries and businesses, workers’ and patients’ representatives, practitioners and international organisations. Stakeholders will be engaged via an interdisciplinary Consultation Group, national and regional focal points of larger networks (e.g. EEA-EIONET; WHO-Environmental Health Task Force) and seven regional consultative workshops. HERA will apply a multi-actor approach that will include stakeholders from different sectors and disciplines, thus allowing cross-fertilisation of ideas and research needs. It will encourage participation of representatives of countries with less developed environment and health policies by organising stakeholder workshops in all regions of Europe, by local partners. These groups will identify the actual needs across major topics as well as for cross-cutting issues and thus will provide input for the European environment, climate and health research agenda. Guidance for the stakeholder consultation will be developed to harmonize information gathering and to get synergies. A mix of consultation approaches and methods will be applied, including websurveys, workshops and webinars. As the stakeholder groups are very diverse, it is important to consider their specific perspectives and aims while selecting appropriate methods of engagement for each of them. The usefulness of various qualitative methods will be assessed regarding their potential to produce knowledge that is usable on a European scale.

Greater than 80% of species on Earth are awaiting formal description, and simultaneously, many of these species unknown to science are becoming extinct. Here we highlight the importance and benefits of collaborating and working in interdisciplinary research groups, to improve quality and efficiency of both ecological and taxonomic research. The aim of this paper is to share and critique two methods used when conducting environmental field research in taxonomically data-poor parts of the world, such as Borneo. Through discussions with geographers, ecologists and taxonomists these two methods are evaluated. We conclude with a suggested solution to push taxonomic knowledge barriers by creating inter-disciplinary communities of researchers who work together to improve taxonomic identifications.

The idea behind this seminar, which took place on March 25, 1996, wasto take advantage of the presence of Professor Paulo Freire and explorea few themes that had been proposed by an interdisciplinary group ofscholars from the United States, Canada, and England. The group hadcollaborated for a few months before Paulo’s arrival, and using a dia-logical method had stimulated each other to participate in examiningand clarifying the themes.
