Abstract

The lack of desire in sexual relationship in the women causes various psychological and emotional damages in these people and decrease of marital satisfaction and increase of marital burnout. Therefore, the present study was conducted aiming to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on the women’s hypoactive sexual desire. the research method of the present study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design and control group and two-month follow-up stage. The statistical population of the study included the women with hypoactive sexual desire in the city of Tehran in 2019. 24 women with hypoactive sexual desire were selected through voluntary sampling method and randomly replaced into experimental and control groups (each group of 12 women). The women present in the experimental group received eight ninety-minute sessions of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Sexual desire questionnaire (Halbert, 1992) was used in the present study. The data from the study were analyzed through repeated measurement ANOVA via SPSS23 statistical software. the results showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy has significant effect on the women’s hypoactive sexual desire (p < 0.001) in a way that this therapy could lead to the decrease of women’s hypoactive sexual desire.
