Abstract
Ceramics based on aluminum nitride which have such valuable properties as high thermal conductivity, low dielectric losses, high breakdown voltage, and nontoxicity are playing an important role in the creation of modern electronic devices. Until recently, beryllium oxide was used as the heat-conducting material. However, its toxicity and high production cost do not allow the wide use of BeO-based ceramics. Aluminium nitride is currently considered the most promising material for heat-conducting supports. This paper describes the effects of yttrium oxide on the sintering of aluminium nitride.
