Abstract
The partial pressures of carbon monoxide, hydrogen and water are known to be important parameters in FT-synthesis. The present investigation deals with the effect of varying the water partial pressure on FT activity and selectivity with a promoted cobalt catalyst in a stirred slurry phase reactor. Increasing the water partial pressure had a positive effect on the product distribution. A dramatic decrease in the methane selectivity, a slight increase of chain growth probability, a slight effect on the olefin selectivity and a strong effect on olefin isomerization have been observed.
