Abstract

Analysis of a fourth-order time-delay control system with backlash or hysteresis type non-linearity has been carried out using describing function and s- plane techniques. Allowable loop gain and time delay for the stability of the system have been computed and plotted for known parameters of the system. Stability boundary curve of region has also been constructed in a parameter plane. Limit-cycle prediction is discussed and conditions for existence of the limit cycle have been found out. System constants for a predicted limit cycle are graphically computed from the stability boundary curve and non-linearity plot.
