Abstract

1. The endurance limits of compressor vanes have been reduced by approximately 2% for vanes of type-I engines and by 42% for vanes of type-II engines due to the presence of stress raisers, whose dimensions and locations on the vane blade were chosen on the basis of an analysis of damage sustained in operation. The strong effect of stress raisers on the endurance characteristics of compressor vanes in type-II engines is explained by the structureal features of the vane, as a result of which the stress raiser is located in the zone of maximum stress action during first-mode vibrations. 2. The maximum dimension of a defect that does not lower the endurance characteristic of vanes of the first LPC stage (VT3-1 alloy) in type-I engines is equal to h=1.5 mm.
