Abstract

Comparing with the phase diagrams of 5 binary systems KC n /E(K-soaps): KC n = C 12 , C 14 , C 16 , C 18 , C 22 ; E = ethylene glycol) we found systematic alterations in the types of phase diagram that depend on the chain length of the potassium soap. The number of phases in the binary phase diagram increases with increasing chain length. The following mesophases were observed: lamellar phase, hexagonal phase, isotropic phase and gel phase.
