Abstract

A rubber composite magnet was made by using magnetic particle of Sr-ferrite (SrFe12O19) and silicon rubber (SR) as a binder with composition 10%, 20 %, 30%, and 40 % wt. of SR, both raw materials are mixed until homogen and then formed by casting method. Furthermore the samples which have been formed in sheet form were dried at room temperature for 6 hours. Characterization of samples was carried out which included tensile strength testing, hardness and magnetic properties using VSM. The characterization result shows that the value of tensile strength (UTS) tends to increase with increasing of SR content, but the elongation value tends decrease with increasing of SR content. It means that the samples with high content of SR become soft and flexible , maximum value of UTS and elongatiaon are 7.08 MPA and 178 % respectively. The result of hardness measurement shows that the sample rubber magnet composite has a shore hardness value of around 23-38 HA.The highest value of each magnetic property is achieved in a sample with 10% SR which has a remanence value of 56 emu / g and a coercivity value of around 1900 Oe.
