Abstract

The steady-state generation power of a Raman laser with Raman and laser media located inside a common cavity was calculated taking into account field inhomogeneities in the active media. Dependences of the laser and Stokes power on the cavity, active media, and pump parameters were derived and analyzed over a wide range of their values. Validity conditions for a homogeneous (averaged) field model that is widely used in the theory of laser energy characteristics were determined. It was shown that the Stokes power dependence on the reflection coefficients of the laser radiation from the active medium surfaces or an intermediate mirror can be neglected.
