Abstract
Material extrusion is a type of non-beam based additive manufacturing (AM) process. In the material extrusion based AM process, molten liquid is extruded layer by layer, selectively joined, and then followed by solidification. Among various additive manufacturing methods, material extrusion holds unique potential because of the low cost, less floor space and possibilities of less construction time of complex shapes. Nowadays, material in the form of filament as well as pellets have been utilized for extrusion based AM processes. Therefore, a detailed review on filament as well as pellet based extrusion processes parameters and their effect on performances measured such as tensile strength and flexural strength and similar have been reported in this article. The future trend of extrusion based AM process has also been provided.
