Abstract

Cobalt sulfide thin films have been successfully synthesized on stainless steel substrate using chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The as prepared cobalt sulfide thin film is pretreated anodically at constant current density of 10 mA cm−2 for 14 h and its physical and structural properties are studied. The electrochemical study in 1 M KOH shows enhancement in catalytic activity after treatment. The linear sweep voltammetry study shows decrease in overpotential from 300 mV to 270 mV after anodic constant current treatment, making cobalt sulfide catalytically more active.
