Abstract

The effect of polymers on the formation of nanosized palladium catalysts for the selective hydrogenation of acetylenic alcohols to give alkenols was studied. Various physicochemical methods such as TEM and XPS were used to show that palladium nanoparticles with diameter 1-4 nm stabilized by polyethylene glycol or pectin on a ZnO support display enhanced catalyst activity and selectivity.
