Abstract

Objectives: Data on the benefit of pulsatile perfusion during cardiopulmonary bypass are still controversial. One reason for the divergent results is the non „physiological“ pulsatile perfusion of a modified roller-pump. Therefore we developed a new physiological pulsatile pump system for cardiopulmonary bypass to examine the effect of non-pulsatile perfusion, pulsatile perfusion induced by a roller-pump and „physiological“ pulsatile perfusion generated by the new device on renal blood flow.
