Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) was synthesized through the decomposition of a Ca(EDTA) complex in presence of phosphate ions. Ion concentrations are much higher than previously reported. This route allows the formation of HAp at temperatures below 140 °C and at different pH values. Phase identification, crystallinity and morphology of the obtained products were studied via FTIR, SEM, XRD and EDS.
