Abstract

The anharmonic contributions to the Debye-Waller factor of a Bravais crystal are obtained for all temperatures by using the method of thermodynamic Green's functions. The quasi-harmonic approximation has been used to calculate the Debye-Waller factors and results are compared with experiment. It has been found that the quasi-harmonic approximation gives better agreement than a central force model.
