Abstract

In this paper, the crystal structure, vacancies, magnetoelectric properties and magneto-thermal properties of Gd1-xDyxCrO3(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) samples were reported. In crystal structure analysis, after doping Dy3+, the lattice constant and the grain size of the sample decreases. The results of positron annihilation lifetime study indicates that the overall electron density near defect increases and that appeared as a gradual decreasing trend of τ2 with Dy3+ concentration. The ferromagnetism of the sample gradually decreased after doping, and the TN(Cr) of the sample decreased systematically with increasing concentration of Dy3+. Moreover, the introduction of Dy3+ inhibited the magneto-electric coupling and weakened the magneto-thermal properties of the samples. This result reveals the effect of Dy3+ doping on the structure, magnetic properties, magnetothermal and dielectric properties of GdCrO3.
