Abstract

In the present paper, we study the effects of couple stress and the slip at the permeable surface On the dispersion of macro molecular components in a biological bearing bounded with porous cartilage of Finite thickness using generalised dispersion model from the point of view of controlling the haemolysis Caused by artificial cartilages made up of metals. Different causes for haemolysis are given. The analytical solution for momentum and concentration equations are obtained using couple stress and slip boundary conditions. The generalised dispersion coefficient is obtained analytically and is numerically evaluated for different values of slip and couple stress parameters. It has been shown that the artificial cartilages made up of suitable material like titanium, instead of metal, can control haemolysis for specific values of slip and couple stress parameters. Some general conclusions of mathematical nature are also given.
