Abstract
Anesthesia with CO2 increased malathion toxicity to the following species of stored-product insects: Adults of red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst); confused flour beetle, T. confusum Jacquelin duVal; and cigarette beetle, Lasioderma serricorne (F.); and larvae of black carpet beetle, Attagenus megatoma (F.). Except for the confused flour beetles, mortality from malathion increased when the insects were anesthetized by CO2 for as little as 5 min. Mortality increased also among the confused flour beetles after CO2 anesthesia for 60 min.
